Thoughts:

1. Mr. Weatherbee has too much hair.
2. Miss Grundy is 10 or 20 years too young. (if that's who she's supposed to be.)
3. Haha, "computing machines."
4. This show is so hilarious that it needs a laugh track.

Redneck Archie

The reason I started this blog was to share Archie comics and other Archie-related things.  I especially wanted to share this comic, "Possum Holler Hijinks", or, as my sister calls it, "Redneck Archie" (hence this blog's URL, redneckarchie.blogspot.com.)
This comic is from Archie's Double Digest January 1983, the year before I was born.  The comic is the Archie story as it might play out if Archie and the gang were hillbillies.

The Most Racist Archie Comic Ever

I was at my grandfather's house last weekend.  He has a whole box full of old Archie comics.  I came across an extremely racist one.
I'm guessing that this is supposed to be what the Archie characters might look and act like if the comic was set in Japan. It's full of fake Engrish and people with slanted eyes and buck teeth.  Very offensive.
This comic is from Archie Comics Digest no. 24, June 1977.


Please note that I'm not racist myself.  I have nothing against Japanese people, and I don't mean to offend anyone with this post. I realize that in light of recent events in Japan, this post may appear insensitive.  My purpose in posting these scans is just to say, "Hey, look at this really bad comic from 1977.  They'd never allow something like that today."
